As some of you may know, as part of our monthly newsletter we have a story of the month.
In this months newsletter we want to create a mini micro-fiction “anthology” of members stories in response to the following prompt:
An emergency announcement has come across all forms of electronic media. The security system of the world has been hacked and all nuclear missiles have been deployed. Impact from the first missile is in fifteen minutes, with total annihilation imminent within the hour. What do you do?
You can write from any perspective that you want. Write from yourself or a character(s).
Will it be a business man or a mother? A homeless person or a CEO? A government official or an eskimo? A hacker or a astronaut in space? An animal or plant?
It can be before the missiles hit, after a missile hits, just before total annihilation, as the security breach is discovered.
Is it set now or in the future? Or in the past – will you rewrite history?
What happens? Do people survive? What do people do when they find out? Are there people who do not know what is happening? What role does social media play? What moves will the governments make? What would the end of the humanity look like on a individual, regional, national, global scale?
Write abstractly or realistically.
Think inside the box, outside the box, in circles if you want. It is entirely up to you.
Max. 500 words. Due by Midnight on Friday 22nd August.

We want to get as many responses as possible.
They don’t have to have common threads, they should be stand alone stories. We want to see all the varied stories that people can envision. So ask yourself, what would happen at the end of the world?
