The first line game

I'm pinching this from another website I used to be a member of.

The general idea goes like this:

Post a "first sentence" that will grab the readers attention whilst also making it very clear that the book is SciFi/Fantasy.

No run-ons.

Here's mine:

"The teen slouched against the street lamp, a charity tin in one hand and a sign in the other reading: Vampire Yoga Fund Raising."

"A man with only one leg hobbled along the empty streets of Brisbane, wondering where everyone was that day."
